Black Sheep at The Coach, (and a Beef sandwich !)

There’s nowt much finer than a reight good slice of beef, packed between a couple of decent slices of bread, and adorned with some caramelised onion.
You know what I’m talking about - the onion is dark and sticky, long skeins of flavour that wraps around succulent beef, which is itself struggling to stay together for long enough to allow you to assemble it, with its onion attendants, accompanied by bread which has soaked up the combined flavours, all spiked together onto the tines of your fork.
The Coach at Lesbury certainly knows how to ensure repeat custom.

A glass of Black Sheep, from the renowned Mr Theakstons brewery in my home county, at Masham.  A perfect repast !  The sun was shining again too!

The window boxes get ready for Summer!

Another fine day in Northumberland, and today saw the window boxes get their summer makeover.  The troughs are now sheltering from the wind whilst the tender young plants get their roots down.   About a week before they’ll feel strong enough to brave the weather and get moved to the front of the house.

Wednesday and Its Alnwick Playhouse

We may think that we’re remote, but to prove that sophistication reaches the ancient county town, Alnwick Playhouse is being a cinema, and tonight we’re off to see ‘Brideshead Revisited’ ….

… Well, that was a good film, plenty of period detail for some of us to become involved in, and the spectacular setting of ‘Brideshead’ made it all the better, as it’s really in Yorkshire.
Still, a good film, with an amazing nod back to the characterisations and even the appearances of the cast that made the TV series way back years ago.  Pacier than the TV series, as there is less time to tell the story, so long drawn out scenes and gentle lead up to plot twists is absent.

Yep, overall we enjoyed it. Entertainment in a cosy small cinema.

Hello world!

Welcome to Number One. This is the first test post.  Boring really! But, that seems to be a requirement for WebLogs.
